Upon The Shore

For the first time, I just stopped.
For a minute; closed my eyes.
Put down my shield and armour.
Uttered painful last goodbyes.
Closed the door on chaos;
Let the bridges burn behind.
Strode away from battle,
And all that would remind.

Roamed on through the cities
Hustled, bustled on the tour.
Yet carried on the search party,
In search of something more.
A place to rest my head,
A sanctuary to restore.
A seaside haven; sea breeze
A nirvana near the shore.

I wandered until I arrived.
Exhausted weary, worn.
Dropped down all my baggage,
Wailed; a tale of woe, forlorn.
Opened up the floodgates
Poured pent up tears into the sea.
Set loose years of anguish.
Once a prisoner; now free.

Lay upon the shore,
Brought down the hatches;
Closed my eyes.
Searched my worn souls caverns
For the voice stangled inside.
Heard the sea breeze sigh,
Upon the waves I heard her speak
A tale of strength; persistance.
Misconstrued as being weak.

‘Just be mindful, just be here,
You’re here to surf the waves
Yet you battle with the tide
Convinced that you appear brave.
There’s no burning decimation.
You left behind the war.
Now it is time for true creation.
There is peace for you in store.’

Surrendered to the sands.
For the first time felt my heart.
Connected with my vessel
After years being apart.
Inhaled seafoam aromas.
Exhaled; let go of all before.
Allowed myself to be. Simply;

Lay upon the shore.
