I am wholly unprepared
To feel this way again
To be consumed by searing intensity
Exhausted by the efforts of my heart
And haunted by the laughter in my mind
Taunted by the face of a Muse
In this never ending, time-suspending
Cadence of want and desire
For there in the sky
Filled with indigo and precious silver
I lost myself when it bid me to sway
And turn my mind to that intangible phrase
Where the hell am I?
And who are we to suddenly see
The caverns that we occupy
The darkened air heavy with nothing
Waiting for the spark of life
To breathe into its gaping hollow
To blossom into the light we follow
Palms heavy with time on my hands
To coat the floor with devouring sands
Longing to know the intricacies
And notes which compose your melodies
For the echoing reverberations reach out
And make a home inside my head
Waiting to move the chest of stone
Laden with bated breath
And heavy eyes with sleepless slumber
Assemble me by name and number
All of me is all for you
Words keep dripping from my fingers
Like computerized water of ones and zeros
To make some logistical estimation
Of what you are to me
And now I might finally know
As gravity abandons me
To the tides of the cosmos
The reason you are here
The words that you have spoken
To gift to me a chance or token
To topple a tyrannical temple
And bid that life be simple
I come to understand futility
To be wont with mad escape
From the everywhere of life complete
To pin it down is to set it free
Never to reflect my gaze
And once before by such a flame
I thought I were but ash
Dancing with myself in sunlit air
With wind and fury from her stare
The licking flame became the iris
That beheld the world as if ablaze
Yet I did not settle upon the earth
A grey and cooling mass
I felt the pulse of life flow freely
Upon red channels within my veins
Piecing together limb by limb
At last there is my heart
Feel it there, my God, it beats!
And drives a steady rhythm
Leading me to the point of origin
The spark of a roaring fire
To begin anew the wake of desire
To be the words that could inspire
A gentle smile upon her face
The swell of uninhibited love
No ocean could bear to contain
I am wholly unprepared
To feel this way again
To be desired with searing intensity
Guided by the rhythm of my heart
Laughing with the laughter of my mind
I welcome the face of a beautiful Muse
In this never ending, time-suspending
Cadence of want and desire
For there in the sky
Filled with indigo and precious silver
I lost myself when it bid me to sway
And then replied in wondrous harmony
“You, are where I am”
