In the old neighborhood
Ms Martha owns an old stone home
The grandest made of granite and stone
Tall white pillars
Long wide windows and
Solid oak doorway
Stand together alone
Ms Martha’s garden is beautiful
She has flowers and fruits
Serves her guests cool lemonade
Every hot summer day
While outside the children play
Whistle and holler
Doing what they may
The bird in her house sings
In the fragrant air
Sweetened by full vases
Nestled upon antique tables
Beside plush chairs
Beneath the paintings all around
Black and white photo memories staring back
Rest upon her grandfather clock
Her crystal chandelier
Reflects the sunlight
Piercing through the windows
Most days the only sound is
The cat purring
Wind chimes outside
Echoes in the breeze
Wood floors creaking in the night
