Orchestra Seats

I’ve always been an odd child,
kept to myself and enjoyed the quiet.
the house would be silent, as if it were asleep
when id begin to play the violin.
I was always careful to not make a noise nor a squeak,
keeping it like my very own little secret.
the melody poured out of me like a steady red stream -
the kind of red that filled orchestra seats.
I got “better” over time.
I began playing the faster, more advanced songs
and they no longer hurt my arms to hold it the whole time.
the violin is my most secretive secret,
because as soon as they know, they watch you like a zoo animal.
they wait behind the glass to watch as you slowly lose yourself
