Just a fun little poem on aging 10-2016
Soft gray clouds pass slowly by, Soon they will release a gift of r… Trees are shedding their leaves As they turn red, orange and yello… Signaling the squirrels to collect…
I remember your smile, your laugh,… you gave so freely. It’s hard that you are gone. I sigh and walk along the bay.
Leaves falling, Another season Decorating the earth. One red leaf In my path,
On a walk this morning, the rocky cliffs that reach the blue-green sea, talk of strength today.
Easing down the gravel road, yellow leaves spiral across, like a welcome
Red, yellow and orange leaves Fall quickly now And create a tapestry of color That fill my mind With joy.
This is the America I know: A sea of white, black, red, yellow And brown faces, Strong minds and voices Raised to the sun,
Harsh reality smacks like a slap of cold wind. Sometimes I’m a tough sailor, at the helm,
Today, I wish the pain to go, the fatigue that I fight so. This process of aging is unkind and yet, the law of nature is a fast lane of change.
Lately, a sadness pervades, I mourn for youth, perhaps passion of younger days. With age, some of that passion
Squirrels with bushy orange tails leap about the deck. Crickets hum, confused that it’s not dark yet. The caw of a blue jay
It is what it is Despite my wishes for it, Otherwise. You are who you are Despite my expectations,
The wind went through me, it carried the yellow, orange and red leaves lightly on the air. Another change is coming,
Time is going by fast, Trying not to live in the past, To keep priorities straight And not falter at the gate. To join the universal goal
If we could embrace our sorrow and surf on our tears, surely our hearts would grow wider to hold the years
